Details of Experience:
Resident was admitted to Squirrel Hill following surgery on 2/29/16 to repair his left shoulder. His arm was Immobilized to expedite healing. This left him with limited ability for self-care due to decreased range of motion as well as feelings of general weakness. During his stay he participated in both occupational and physical therapy while also receiving wound care and pain management. He received one on one education on adaptive equipment needed to assist him in lower body dressing and range of motion. His feelings of weakness decreased and he progressed from waling 100 feet with stand by assist to unlimited walking alone. At the end of his two week stay he was able to safely discharge to his home where he lived alone. Resident continues to progress at home while receiving outpatient therapy and assistance from Emerald home Health.
