How did this patient hear about Squirrel Hill Center for Rehabilitation & Healing? Resident heard of Squirrel Hill Center for Rehabilitation & Healing through the referral of social worker Paige Coven at St. Margaret’s Hospital.
Resident arrived at Squirrel Hill Center for Rehabilitation & Healing in late January of 2015.
This resident’s primary modality needs were to receive physical and occupational rehabilitation after experiencing four severe breaks in one of her feet due to a fall.
These breaks required fusing by doctors at the above noted hospital, resulting in this resident being placed in a non-weight bearing state and a development of need for skilled care and therapy for further healing to continue.
Shortly after this resident’s admission the team of multiple rehabilitation experts at Squirrel Hill Center for Rehabilitation & Healing developed a specialized series of exercises utilizing a variety of rehabilitative equipment, all targeted at conjointly maintaining and developing the resident’s body strength and stabilization, while also aiming to maximize this residents healing process.
Physical therapists began by utilizing strengthening weights and machinery targeted at increasing this particular resident’s muscle tone and with purpose of promoting a weight bearing status. High grade in house equipment incorporated for these therapies is also utilized by many major professional sports teams such as the New York Giants and others.
Occupational therapists at Squirrel Hill Center for Rehabilitation & Healing also worked with this resident during her stay, providing programming to ensure many vital day to day tasks (including cooking, bathing, toileting, laundering of clothing, and more) could be completed with ease upon a successful discharge to home.
While providing a hospitable, top notch rehabilitative environment Squirrel Hill Center for Rehabilitation & Healing also provided various recreational programs and services to this resident during her stay to ensure the most optimal rejuvenating experience and environment possible. Programs and amenities provided included weekly bingo events, an in house beauty salon, support services, free wireless internet, sports parties, concierge services, buffet style breakfasts, and more.
After just over two months of intense rehabilitative programming, clearance by the therapy department, and much dedication this resident was declared by a team of by doctors to once more have the ability to manage weight and to discharge successfully to home.
With assistance from the therapists and staff at Squirrel Hill Center for Rehabilitation &Healing as well as her own determination this resident’s rehabilitative goals had been reached; her journey of healing was now complete.
