Resident was transported by her son after a stay at mercy Hospital to tread her Vertigo and COPD. At the time of admission she was ambulating 100 Ft with a wheeled walker and standing 6-7 minutes with therapy staff supervision. Resident lives alone and at time of admission was concerned with her lack of balance and bouts of dizziness due to the Vertigo.
With the assistance of occupational and physical therapy she was able to learn positioning to increase her tolerance while providing safety in the event of an episode of dizziness. Her times increased to 250 feet with use of a wheeled walker and 15 minutes of standing at discharge.
Care plan when returning home included safety measures such as Lifeline and follow up with the Hearing and Balance Center.
Upon discharge Resident stated, “Everyone was very helpful and made sure I had what I needed.”
